Matthew Giardina, AIA, MBA

principal Architect

Matthew Charles Giardina, AIA, MBA is a native Houstonian, born in Southeast Houston and raised in Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in the Clear Lake area.  Matthew graduated from the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston in 2011, with Magna Cum Laude honors.  While working on his undergraduate degree, Matthew had the strong desire to learn about all facets of design and construction, and was blessed with the opportunity to intern with a structural engineer, followed by an internship with a graphic designer.  In the summer of 2010, Matthew had the incredible experience of studying abroad in Italy and traveling through Europe for two months.  Matthew joined the work force immediately following graduation, and continued an informal education in commercial and residential architecture through the tutelage of respected and talented architects, including Allen Bianchi, James Ray, James Evans, David Bucek, and Mark Todd.  In 2014 Matthew came to understand that a true architect is much more than a designer; a true architect is the leader of a multi-disciplinary team. Each member of that team is responsible for different tasks, and the culmination of those individual tasks results in a finished work of architecture.  Sensing the inherent importance and magnitude of the architect’s role as project manager, Matthew decided to return to school to study leadership and management.  Matthew graduated from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston in May, 2017, with a Master’s in Business Administration, and certificates in Leadership and Entrepreneurship.  Matthew enjoys spending most of his free time with his beautiful wife and five children, he is an avid reader, and enjoys any opportunity to discuss the richness and depth of the Christian faith. Together with his best friend, Kyel, Matthew enjoys podcasting and blogging at Laymentality.
